Episode 7 — Ji-woo’s Secret (Ji-woo’s POV)

The moment I walked away from him, my chest split open.
The rain hid my tears, but nothing could hide the truth inside me—
I still loved him. More than anything.

But love wasn’t enough. Not anymore.

Seven years ago, I had been reckless. A volunteer, just meant to guide the Indian team… but I let myself fall.
Into his eyes.
Into his smile.
Into a dream that was bigger than borders.

And then the dream shattered with broken glass and blood on asphalt.

When the doctors said he might never wake up, my parents turned cold.

“See what happens when you chase illusions?” my father had said.
“You ruined his life, and nearly yours. Enough is enough.”

For two years, I fought them. I lived in the hospital, clinging to his hand, whispering saranghaeyo into his silence. I believed he would come back.

But when my family dragged me back to Seoul, they gave me no choice. They arranged a marriage. They locked my future in chains.

And I let them.

Because somewhere inside, I thought… maybe they were right. Maybe I was cursed for loving him.

But tonight, seeing him again—alive, breathing, holding me—
my heart betrayed me.

I wanted to run into his arms and never let go.
I wanted to scream at the world: He’s mine. He always was.

Instead, I lied.

“Forget me.”

The words tasted like poison.

As I hurried home, I didn’t notice the black car parked near the corner.

But when I reached the gate, a man stepped out.
Min-jae.

My blood turned to ice.

“Long time, Ji-woo,” he sneered. His eyes were colder than I remembered. “Looks like your little Indian hero finally woke up.”

My breath caught. “You… you’ve been watching?”

He smirked. “Of course. I’m the reason he almost didn’t wake up at all.”

My knees buckled. The confirmation hit like a dagger. The accident wasn’t fate—it was him.

And now he was back.

“Stay away from him,” Min-jae hissed, leaning close. “If you don’t, next time… he won’t survive.”

I stood frozen as he walked away, disappearing into the rain.

My whole body shook, but one truth screamed louder than fear:
I couldn’t let Sumedh know.
If he fought Min-jae, he would be destroyed.

Better he hated me, than risk his life again.
