Episode 10 — The Storm (Sumedh’s POV)

The night of Ji-woo’s engagement arrived like a funeral in disguise.

The ballroom glittered with chandeliers and crystal glasses, the elite of Seoul gathered to toast a union built on power, not love. Musicians played softly in the background, but beneath the polished surface, I could feel the tension—like thunder waiting to break.

And into that storm… I walked.

I wasn’t invited. I wasn’t welcome. But I wasn’t afraid.

As I stepped through the grand doors, murmurs spread like wildfire. Guests whispered, shocked to see the boy from Mumbai who wasn’t supposed to exist anymore.

Ji-woo’s eyes found me instantly across the room. She froze, the wine glass slipping slightly in her hand.

Min-jae followed her gaze. And when he saw me, his face twisted—not in surprise, but in fury.

“Security!” he barked.

Two guards rushed toward me. But I didn’t stop.

I raised my voice, strong and steady, cutting through the noise of the hall.

“Ji-woo, before you let them cage you forever, the truth needs to be heard.”

The crowd hushed. Even Ji-woo’s father hesitated, signaling the guards to pause.

I turned to the guests. “Seven years ago, the night of the accident—it wasn’t an accident. Min-jae was there. He caused it. He tried to erase me from Ji-woo’s life.”

Gasps rippled through the hall. Min-jae’s face flushed crimson.

“Lies!” he spat. “This man is delusional—fresh out of a coma, babbling nonsense.”

But before he could continue, a voice rang out.

Hae-rin.

She stepped forward, her phone in hand. “I have proof. A recording from the hospital’s security archives. Min-jae bribed a nurse to keep Ji-woo away from Sumedh while he was unconscious.”

She played the clip. The room filled with Min-jae’s own voice, threatening the nurse, mentioning the accident.

The silence that followed was deafening.

Ji-woo’s father rose, his face pale. “Min-jae… is this true?”

But Min-jae had lost control. His calm mask shattered. He lunged at me, fists raised, shouting, “You were supposed to stay gone!”

We clashed in the center of the hall, the crowd screaming. He threw a punch—I blocked it. Years of dance training gave me speed, but rage gave me strength.

Guards swarmed in, pulling us apart.

Ji-woo ran forward, standing between us. Her voice shook, but it was fierce.

“Enough!” she cried. “I won’t be a pawn anymore. My heart has always belonged to Sumedh. And no threats, no lies, no power will change that.”

She reached for my hand. And in front of everyone, she chose.

The hall erupted into chaos—guests shouting, Min-jae dragged away by furious guards, Ji-woo’s father collapsing into a chair, stunned.

But for me… all I saw was Ji-woo, her hand gripping mine, her eyes steady.

After years stolen from us, after storms and silence, after memory and fear—she was finally here.

With me.

And as we stepped out of that cursed hall together, into the night, I knew:

The real story was only beginning.
